The Candy Land Problem

I’m suggesting that you boycott Candy Land.

In fact, I’m suggesting you boycott all games of chance that are aimed at children.

Why?

Think about what games like Candy Land teach kids: Choose a card, follow instructions, your future is random and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Don’t Try Your Best

Effort is nice, but it has no end value.

I’ll try my best sounds great, but it’s the wrong attitude. It assumes that failing is your plan B. It’s a cop out. You say I’ll try my best so that when you fail, you don’t have to let everyone (or yourself) down. After all, failure was a possible outcome.
